Initial Consultation

This is the first step to starting your building project. We visit your home, or property, listen to your needs to better understand the expectations of your unique construction project. Our goal for this meeting is to leave with a complete understanding of your project, in order to create a design solution. Your goal is to communicate with us what you need/desire. We listen to your needs, offer preliminary solutions, and explain the costs and process of design and construction.

At Thomas Baio Architect we offer two types of initial consultations: an At-Site Consultation or an In-Office Consultation

on-Site Consultation

At-Site 1 hour consultation

This service is no cost to the prospective client. It allows us to introduce ourselves, listen to your needs, outline with you a scope of work for the project, and witness key factors which will control the outcome through a tour of the existing conditions. From here, we will produce a proposal which reiterates the scope of work, describes our services, and outline our charges and payment schedule.

In-Office Consultation

In-Office 1 hour consultation

This service is no cost to the prospective client. We meet with you in our office, introduce ourselves, listen to your needs, and outline with you a scope of work for the project. From here, we will produce a proposal which reiterates the scope of work, describes our services, and outline our charges and payment schedule.

Advanced Consultation

For larger projects, that may require a more in-depth consultation we also offer Advanced Consultations. Here, we visit the job site and listen to your needs, understand the goals of your unique construction project, and create preliminary sketches. Your goal is to communicate with us your needs/wants for your new project. Afterwards, we offer preliminary solutions, create sketches of your before and after, and explain the costs and process of design and construction.

Full Service Evaluation

At-Site 2 hour consultation

This service is a paid hourly consultation to the client. It includes all elements of an Initial Consultation plus evaluate an engineered approach, which would include a discussion of alternative scenarios. Frequently during these consultations, we will create sketches of potential solutions right in front of you. Very often in cases of existing conditions with proposed alterations, sketches will be produced of the before and after- which illustrates the idea right before your eyes.

Charges for this service are quoted before arrival. Typical charges are $200 per hour and are due at the completion of the consultation. All fees paid for this service will be deducted from our retainer agreement of the architectural services should you accept our proposal.
